My Art Blog is Now Live!

Hello! Welcome to my new blog.

I wanted a way to share some of the happenings around here, and this seemed the best way to do it.
I'm not sure how often I'll have time to post, but I hope you'll stop back frequently to see what's going on.

Summer Camp

Most of my paintings are between 9x12 inches and 22x30 inches. So what am I doing painting a 20 foot train?

I've always heard, "Idle hands,,,,,,,,etc".

Several of my Forsyth Tech classes don't fill during the summer which leaves me with too much time on my hands. I was asked if I'd like to teach art to kids, so now I'm helping to develop an arts based summer day camp hosted by First Christian Church on Country Club Rd. here in Winston Salem.

I'm the art department, and part of my job has been to dress up the children's wing of the church. Hence, the train.
The camp is called Creative Palooza and we encourage the kids to 'get on board for creative learning'. We offer Art, Drama, Music, French, Spanish, American Sign Language, and Computer Skills.

It will be an interesting shift, teaching adults one day and elementary children the next. As I've found in all my teaching rolls, what I learn from the students is as valuable as anything I teach them.

Stay tuned for the next installment,
Ginnie
